Child
Development Checks
Some of our doctors have additional
specific qualifications to carry out
developmental checks on babies at
approximately eight weeks of age.
Thereafter, these checks are carried
out by a health visitor, who will
refer any problems to us.
Children’s
Vaccinations and Immunisations
These routine procedures are usually carried
out on Wednesday morning. A health
visitor is normally available at
this time for advice and to arrange
for baby to be weighed.
Diabetic
Clinic
Our nurses will advise on the
management, lifestyle and diet of
all diabetics, arranging blood tests
and annual reviews. Appointments are
also available with a Diabetic
Dietician.
Family
Planning
All the doctors are happy to give
advice on family planning. Dr Peters
also runs a specialist clinic which
includes the fitting of IUCDs (the
coil).
Hearing
Check Clinic
This is a free service provided by
Scrivens. Appointments are available
on alternate Wednesday afternoons.
The technician will test your
hearing and will advise the doctors
if he feels that a NHS referral is
required. The surgery does not
receive any commission on any
products sold or recommend any
particular items.
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Clinic
The nurse/Healthcare Assistant in
this clinic will check your blood
pressure and give lifestyle advice
as necessary to help in the
detection and management of this
widespread condition.

Several partners perform minor
surgery for a variety of conditions.
Some examples of the procedures
carried out are: cryotherapy, injection of tennis

over five are invited to attend for
a check up at a nurse run clinic.
Phlebotomy
A new addition for 2006 - blood test
appointments are available each
morning between 0900 – 1000 hours.
Respiratory
Medicine Clinic
For patients of all ages who have
asthma or respiratory disease. The
nurse/Healthcare Assistant will
advise on inhaler technique,
preventing problems and medication.
Travel
Advice
The nurses are happy to give advice,
by appointment, on vaccination and
other health requirements for
foreign travel. Following
appropriate assessment vaccinations
can be scheduled, for some of which
there may be a charge. Please note
that for some courses of treatment
to be effective they need to be
started up to 6 weeks before travel
- please don’t leave making an
appointment to the last minute!
